1510563 Method of laterally shifting material from an elongated spoil bank FIAT-ALLIS CONSTRUCTION MACHINERY INC 23 Jan 1976 [27 Jan 1975] 46835/77 Divided out of 1510562 Heading E1F A method of laterally shifting material from an elongated spoil bank down the slopes thereof by means of an angle dozing apparatus such as described in the referred to Parent Specification involves moving the apparatus along one side of the top of the bank with the blade adjusted at a suitable blade angle, at a suitable depth of cut, and at a suitable tilt angle to shift material down one side of the bank; re-adjusting the blade to change the blade angle, depth of cut and blade tilt angle to appropriately cope with the new conditions on the top of the bank; and moving the apparatus in the opposite direction along the other side of the top of the bank. The method is primarily employed in reclaiming of strip mined land by filling in the valleys between parallel spoil banks left after the mining of the land and the cycle of operations of the above described method is repeated with appropriate re-setting of the blade at each pass of the apparatus along the bank until the land is left level.

The dozer unit includes a leading tractor 1, a driven tractor 2, a bulldozer} the first common blade 3 installed between the tractors, a standard blade 4 mounted on the leading tractor, a remote control 5 (hydraulic or pneumatic) of the driven tractor engine and the blade 3 from the lead tractor.
On the driven tractor 2, through the trunnions 6, a C-shaped frame 7 is installed, which can be raised and lowered by means of two hydraulic cylinders 8 mounted on the tractor 8 and connected by means of rods with the front part of the C-shaped frame.
Universal joint 9 is intended
to connect the frame 7 with the lower part of the rear side of the blade 3.
The hydraulic cylinder 10 with the help of the universal joint 1 is connected at the one end with the frame 7, and the other through the same sharair 12 - with the rear part of the blade 3.
The hydraulic cylinder 13 is connected to the center of the frame of the radiator grille by means of a spatial joint 14 and a vertical joint 15 with the other end to the top edge of the blade 3. The leading tractor 1 has a hitch 16, connecting the universal joint 17 to one rigid cone 18, the other end gi is connected by means of a horizontal (cross) hinge 19 with a hinged ripper 20, which is by means of vertical axes. 21 is connected to the front end of the blade 3. A hydraulic cylinder 22 is installed between the upper end of the ripper 20 and the rod 18.
During operation of the dozer unit, the common dozer blade is controlled as follows.
Heads 8 and 22 carry out the raising and lowering of the blade, the hydraulic cylinder 8 - raising and lowering the leading end of the blade. The cylinder 10 changes the positions of the blade in the plan. The hydraulic cylinder 13 rotates the blade relative to the axis of rotation 23 passing through the centers of the hinges 17 and 9, and when the rod is pulled in, the leading end of the nozzle 3 is lowered, a. the rear (driven) end rises, when the stem extends, on the contrary, the leading end of the blade rises, and the rear end goes down.
Ripper 20 provides for killing the leading end of the blade at any value of its angle in the plan.

Invention Formula
. 1. The bulldozer unit, which includes two tractors: a leading, located in front,
and a slave, located behind the leader, a common blade for external dumping, located at an angle in plan between the tractors and attached to them by means of hinged joints, pushing the frame mounted on the driven tractor, a hydraulic control of the frame control that is different, in order to increase productivity, the unit is equipped with a mechanism for raising and lowering the front end of the blade and a mechanism for raising and lowering the rear end of the blade for changing the blade installation angle in plan and for changing the angle of inclination a blade with respect to the axis passing through the hinge joints.

2. The device according to claim 1, characterized in that the driving tractor is equipped with an operator console, means for controlling the mechanism for raising and lowering the front end of the blade and remote control means connected to the driven tractor for changing the position of the rear end of the blade.

The device according to claim 1, characterized in that the connection of the rear end of the blade with the pushing frame and the driven tractor is made by means of three hinges, the first of which is located on the blade in its lower part, the second is connected to the pushing frame of the tractor by changing the hydraulic cylinder dumping angle in the plan, a. the third is located on the dump in the upper part and is connected by means of a hydraulic cylinder with the front end of the driven tractor.

4. Device according to Clauses 1.1 and 2, characterized in that the mechanism for raising
and lowering the front end of the blade has a vertically positioned mounted ripper, pivotally connected to the front end of the blade, a rod that is pivotally connected to the driving tractor and the mounted ripper, and a hydraulic cylinder to raise and lower the end of the blade, pivotally connected to the tractor to the upper end hinged ripper.
